The NEBOSH Open Book Exam is a replacement for the invigilated paper-based exam which has the same learning outcomes and assessment criteria. However, in the open book examination, you can access your learning materials and digital resources and can be completed from wherever you feel comfortable.

 

What is the format of Open Book exam?

The Format of Open Book Exam is given in a scenario type. The scenario outlines a workplace hazardous situation such as an incident or safety intervention. In this type of situation, you need to take actions as a Safety Officer or Safety manager and control the hazardous situation.

 

Can I use my textbooks and any other materials during the examination?

During the examination you can use textbooks, learning materials and other digital resources for your reference. Use your own words and apply the knowledge which you gained during your training course to address the questions asked.

 

What standards of behavior do NEBOSH expect during the examination?

NEBOSH expect all the examiners to act responsibly and with integrity. This means you’re allowed to read your own notebooks, search information offline or online resources, and other online journals. It is required to confirm that the work you are submitted is entirely your own; and that you have not copied from the work of any other learner during the examination.

 

What should I need to know about malpractice?

 

Repeated attempts of plagiarism or collusion may lead to malpractice and NEBOSH takes such forms of assessment malpractice seriously, and finally learner being banned from taking any future NEBOSH assessments.

 

Does Open Book assessment devalue my qualification?
